Prayer Sets
What Is a Prayer Set?
Our prayer sets are corporate times of worship and prayer. We set aside an hour of our day, three times a week (see schedule below), to minister to the Lord as a community.
“minister to the Lord”
Our ministry to the Lord is the offering we bring Him. Often this looks like a sacrifice of thanksgiving and praise (Hebrews 13:15) in our prayer sets, but our aim is to give our whole lives as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1) wholly and acceptable to the Lord. Therefore, our prayer sets are times of aligning our community with God’s Word. The offering we bring to Him is intended to produce “fruit that remains”(John 15:16) in our daily lives.
“as a community”
The Bible makes it very clear that the Christian faith is not an individual endeavor. The Kingdom of God is a communal way of living together with God. The book of Acts gives us a picture of how the first Christian community committed themselves to this communal kingdom. It says “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). Prayer Sets are our purposeful attempt to follow in the footsteps of the early Church as a community.
